MADE >> Knit Baby Gown

9.24.2014

Today I made this knit sleep gown for Miss C.

I used a pattern from the Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop on Etsy. Hers was the only pattern for baby gowns I could find with sizing in Preemie, Newborn, 3 months, and 6 months. Because the 0-6 month size is RIDICULOUS. Who thought of that?

I added the optional No-Scratch Mitts included in the pattern and I made a little sizing tag by using permanent ink, small alphabet stamps and stamped onto a soft piece of 100% cotton twill tape (no scratchy, woven, tags for my little eczema babies).

The instructions were pretty hard to follow and I think if I weren't a pretty good sewist I might have been lost. A definite drawback of this pattern.  Now that I've done it once I think I could make another in about 60-90 minutes.

I love, love, love how it turned out. I plan on whipping up another soon.

That is seriously the cutest thing! I cannot believe you made that. I think my favorite are the hand covers. You're amazing!

I tried making a couple of these. And I did good until the end. The elastic at the bottom, well, it didn't end up elasticy at all. It just was straight. Any ideas what I could have done wrong? I double checked the elastic size.... Your's turned out so great!!!

KristyLou Not sure. I did think it was odd that she didn't put the elastic in a CASING. My first one seemed right, but I made a 3 month size and the elastic seemed a bit too big. Next time I will reduce the length of the elastic.
