My uterus is the size of what???!!!

11.30.2004
Today I was at Michael's Crafts buying supplies for our cub scouts to make a "Den Doodle", which is a tracking system for their achievemnets to keep them motivated until they receive a patch. As I was walking out a woman held the door for me and asked when I was due. I guess that means I am officially "showing" enough for my pregnant state to be obvious. I'm okay with that. At least people aren't thinking I'm just plain fat anymore.

Our baby book says that my uterus is now the size of a basketball....HOLY COW! That could explain it! A uterus starts out the size of a woman's closed fist. That's really some growth. Happily, I have great maternity clothes that Big Lou and Dennis got for my Christmas present. They have plenty of room left in them to grow!

If it walks like a duck...

11.28.2004
I am beginning to waddle. In the store tonight I tried as hard as I could not to, but there's no way out. It's so interesting how this happens. One day you're walking like a normal human and then you become a duck? Shouldn't pregnancy be more feminine than this?

about me

11.25.2004
I am a 30+ year old wife and a mommy of three little girls, Ella (7), Evangeline (5) and Bianca (18 months). I live in Lancaster County, PA with my hubby Matt, where he works as a Health Administrator and where I am a Stay-At-Home-Mommy and a part time Professional Photographer.

I have an unhealthy addiction to... crafts, Project Runway, creme brulee, blogging, simple carbohydrates and cool Indie music. I know every single word to every single song on the ABBA Gold album. It's a crowning achievement of my life and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I do just about everything artsy.  I love to sew clothes for my girls, quilt, knit, make felties, silk screen, create toys and on and on and on. Basically, if it's crafty...I DO IT!

Discouragement-A-Go-Go

11.17.2004
Today I feel discouraged. I am so tired and achy from walking around today at the mall that I feel like the next 4 months are going to be hard. It feels like my body can't do this. I know every pregnant woman feels that way. And then to think that on the horizon is this looming pain-fest that is child birth makes it worse.

To make things harder, some weepiness has started creeping into my world. Tonight I found myself crying for no reason at all. I thought I might be immune to this hormonal roller coaster, but apparently not. I worry about labour and staying organized once Ella comes and breastfeeding properly and never sleeping AGAIN and making our home nice for her and being a good wife while I am being a Mother.

I wanted so badly to be that cute pregnant woman who still always looks good. Unfortunately, I rarely put on make-up these days. I am getting so busy keeping up with laundry and keeping the house clean and things that should be normal and how much worse is it going to be when I have a baby? Are we destined to be that disastrous couple in the ward with the messy house and jam-faced kids?...I hope not, but today I doubt my own abilities.

The sonographer for me...

11.06.2004
We went to Alta View hospital today for a new Ultrasound. Matt had a friend at work who's roommate is a sonographer and said he would do an ultrasound for us for free. Of course, I made him a huge Banana Cream pie and took it with us to the hospital.

This ultrasound was GREAT! We got about 15 minutes worth of video of the baby. She was moving around a lot. He said it was a girl and we got to see her kicking her mommy, sucking her fingers and yawning. It was so wonderful. Here's a first look at the little chingeroo!

Why are you so NAUGHTY!

11.05.2004
Everything is going well and Emmy is feeling really great. We first felt a kick about a week ago and now little Ella is kicking with a vengance. The little fighter won't quit! It went from "Wow! She's kicking...how special!" to "Please stop...it's 3 AM...YOU'RE NAUGHTY!" in one week.

We went to our diagnostic Ultrasound today and everything is looking good. Our due date is still March 27th and we confirmed her female status. Sadly, our android-like Sonargrapher showed us the little face and then never took that picture. Then handed us a sheet of photos of a spine, knee, ribcage and an arm. She's lame! We are possibly going in tomorrow for a free ultrasound from our friend in which the whole session will purely be "glamour shots". Hopefully we can e-mail one of those out soon.
