You guys. That Oscars was AMAZING! That flub at the ending? Sorry to say that I kind of loved it. Maybe it's the Reality TV lover in me. I blame The Bachelor franchise.
More importantly, the Oscars fashion was all over the place and I have never had so much to say about the men! Let's begin!
THE GOOD
Viola Davis looks so smoking hot in this red dress. I love everything about this! And I really liked Olivia Culpo's elegant look with the belt detail for a little edginess.
I love this look on Chrissy Tiegen, although, I always wish she would step out of this same lip color. I want a fresh, spring, pink or some other kind of change-up. This gorgeous look on Octavia Spencer erases the memory of that atrocious pant suit she wore to the last Award show. Her hair and make-up and minimal jewelry are all spot on!
Emma Stone looked like Hollywood glamour perfection! Obviously, you know I would have liked the dress even better were it not a nude, but I can't deny how glorious she looks. Taraji P. Hensen was my very close runner-up for best dressed of the entire evening. I mean, look at this! And the fact that the dress is midnight blue makes it even better.
THE ALMOST
You guys, I love this dress on Halle Berry, but that hair is just the wrong shape. The hair just needed to be toned down a bit and I would have LOVED the entire look! Jessica Biel had a miss with this necklace/dress combination. How amazing would that necklace be paired with a simple black gown? But it's just gold on gold on gold and it ruins the beauty of each part of the look.
THE UGLY
Let's talk about Naomie Harris. Okay, this dress is certainly out of the box, but I think I could have handled it (to a point) if it weren't for those mismatched shoes!!! Make it stop! Alicia Vikander looks like a very odd retro Spanish senorita from a bull-fighting cartoon. And her hair is all wrong!
Felicity Jones came dressed as a boring ballerina from that wind up jewelry box every little girl had in 1980. Sofia Boutella looks like she dripped some bar-b-que sauce onto the front of her white, feathered, gown so she threw a silver slip dress on top of it to fool us all. Joke's on her.
Both of these looks can be summed up in two words: TOO MUCH. Blanca Blanco could have pulled this off if the dress was sleeveless and the slit was 4 inches lower, AND she ditched those overworked shoes. And Janelle Monae needed to lose the necklace, hairpiece, and side-skirts! That would have still been a very busy look, but not distracting the way this ensemble is.
THE MEN
Pharrell Williams always looks completely idiotic, so this is no exception, but Ryan Gosling?! I feel betrayed. The 80's wedding singer ruffle shirt? That's just hurtful.
David Oyelowe looks like a MILLION BUCKS in this tux! Somehow, Dev Patel looks like a cheesy waiter and your rich Uncle's country club.
I usually HATE colored tuxes, but I am competently smitten with Riz Ahmed in this perfectly tailored blue tuxedo. Mahershala Ali looks amazing in this all black look.
WHO WORE IT BEST?
People praised Ruth Negga, but totally lambasted Ginnifer Godwin for these very similar looks. I dislike both looks for the same reason. Just too much. If anything I might hate Ginnifer's look slightly less because the lighter portions break up the red and she didn't over do the make-up the way Ruth did.
These looks worn by Michelle Williams and Emma Roberts are startlingly similar. I like them both, but I would choose Emma as the winner. That red lip is to die for!
ATTACK OF THE UNFORTUNATE NUDES
I know you love it when I break out the Photoshop to show you how much I dislike nude dresses. Nicole Kidman is gorgeous and embraces her pale skin and I love it, but she has got to stop with the nudes!!! The orange you guys! It could have been so good!
WORST DRESSED
Dakota Johnson looks just awful in this head to tow gold gown that looks like it was made for an 80-year-old. Ugh! The huge bow is horrendous. And her Legolas hair?!!
BEST DRESSED
This was such an easy choice. Hailee Steinfeld K-I-L-L-E-D! She wasn't even nominated for anything this year and she still came to win!!! It is just absolutely perfect.
Alright, friends! Weigh in!
Who was your favorite and least favorite of the night?!
Can we ever trust Ryan Gosling again?
