Cecilia | One Month

10.29.2014
Dear Cecilia,

You turned one month old today and it has certainly been a crazy life so far (mostly for me and a little for you). This has been the fastest month of my life.  You are so tiny and sweet. I still cant believe how tiny you are.

This first month with you has been a challenging one because you are struggling to adjust to your Soy formula. Your poor little tummy is trying to digest those new  proteins and it means you cry. A lot.

We walk with you,
sing to you,
rock you,
bounce you,
burp you,
swaddle you,
put you in your swing,
give you gas drops,
prune juice,
microbiotics,
you still cry.

It's okay. We do it all because we love you.

Your older sisters are smitten. They argue over who gets to snuggle you.  And Jude is coming around. He has begun petting your head nicely (as opposed to poking your eyes when you first arrived) and when you cry he comes right over.  He's not sure what to do for you yet, but he's concerned none the less.

You love sleeping chest to chest with Mommy.  You want to be held always.  It's hard with 5 kids, but I love that about you.

In the past 4 weeks you have come into the world, received doctor's check ups, been adored by our family, been dragged to and from Pre-School drop offs with Bianca, switched formula, celebrated birthdays of 2 siblings, stayed for two days with our surrogate Grandma in PA (Mitzi Bustah), and spent 4 days in the car (and sleeping in drawers in hotel rooms) as we moved across the country.

You've spent the past week at Grandma and Grandpa's house, being endlessly rocked and soothed by Grandma while I recovered from a c-section, a move and becoming a mom of 5.  You have been snuggled and adored by many Utah cousins.

During this first month there is no doubt that you have been loved.  We can't wait to love you more next month too.

My goodness she looks soooo tiny! Life is hard for newborns and for those around them. I always say that it starts to get better around 6 weeks and becomes pretty much settled around 3 months. It gets better and you are doing a great job!

Sleeping in drawers... that reminds me of my days in the married housing at BYU. Too funny!

Do you have a wrap or carrier of some type? They provide snuggles, warmth and safety while keeping moms sane ;)
