Fabulous Find!
3.29.2009
On Saturday we went to Old Navy to get Ella a new jacket for the Spring and cool days this Summer. While out and about town, we stumbled upon this completely wicked-cool game of Memory featuring the color illustrations of Charley Harper. And it was a steal! Next on my wish list is the ABC's book by Charley.
I love Charley's colorful, yet understated style. And guess who else does? Todd Oldham. The clip below is a video essay about Charley Harper as one of Todd's art heroes. Try and see past Todd Oldham's curiously high sing-song voice and see the coolness that this artist offered.
I bought about 7 of the little baby shirts they had by this guy at Old Navy (on sale for $1.50!) and theyve made great gifts! Everyone thinks they are so cute - I love his old school, throwback style!
Now that is seriously awesome. We had Harper prints all around our house growing up...in fact my boys still have one (of a raccoon) in their room at my mom's house. He's amazing :)
LOVE the looks of the memory game!!! I keep thinking I'll make one for the boys ... yea ... that's on my "to-do" list that is 3 legal sheets long now ... yikes!
We have the ABC book. But it just sits on a shelf as decoration...that's how much I love it! Now I wish that we would have picked up the matching game as well. They were all on sale for a steal. I'll have to go back to see if they have any left.
I loooooove Charley Harper. I was so happy to find this cool agenda for 2009 with all those birds! *swoon* http://heliotropehome.blogspot.com/2008/08/2009-charley-harper-calendars.html mine's the large agenda (fourth picture). I love your style and now I'm feeling quite smug about the fact that I own something that you think is cool. Hee. Greetings from Germany Nina
