Taking the title from Vanilla Ice

5.12.2014
You tell yourself you'll never write a blog post about Vanilla Ice.  But then we all fall into the trap eventually.

Up until now the biggest rip-off in music history was Vanilla Ice straight-out stealing Ice, Ice Baby from Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie.  Vanilla Ice was sued and lost, by the way.  But there's a new thief in town.

The family was driving to the library last night and heard this song on the radio. I immediately recognized it as Lonely No More by Rob Thomas, but it's not.  It's called Me and My Broken Heart by Rixton....whoever Rixton.....is...

Have a listen.  They are even almost in the same key.

Here is Rob Thomas' song from 2009 (chorus at 0:42)

And here is Rixton's song from 2014 (chorus at 1:55)

Right? I'm gunna assume he'll being hearing fron Rob's lawyer shortly.

Yes! This has been driving me cra-zy. Glad I'm not the only who noticed! But I happen to love Rob Thomas so maybe I'm over sensitive.

Ahhh! I totally noticed that too! Can't people come up with original material anymore?!

I think that Rob's lawyer won't be getting involved any time soon… I believe Rob Thomas is a co-writer of the song.

I wonder if he got permission? You can pay the song writer for the rights to it I think.
